Building Social Media from the Ground Up

Setting up a social media network for a client, sounds fairly simple? Not really, I guess most people would assume that all you need to do is create a Facebook page, a Twitter account and you're good to go. Wrong! Do I possess the ability to create a social media network for a client from the ground up?

If someone has asked me that 5 weeks ago, I would have said yes, oh how naïve I was! Yes I could have done it, but would it have been beneficially sound for the client? Probably not.

Why…

Campaigning for an awesome email

I'll admit it, I am a Pinterest addict. I pin many things from fitness inspiration to movie posters I like.

What I have discovered today are images pinned from Sydney based company, Campaign Monitor. What an awesome discovery, many people have pinned work from Campaign Monitor and more specifically, email campaign templates. The designs that I got to feast my eyes on were inspiring…

Quick User Usability Testing

At PB Web Development we do usability testing of our websites with candidates coming into our office to perform various tasks on a website. The test candidates would go through the list of tasks that we ask them to perform while we sit there with a notepad and video recorder monitoring exactly what the user is doing and thinking.

This is quite a costly process and also time consuming considering you need to recruit the test users, pay for their time as well as conducting and scheduling…

Visually (visual.ly) Good Content

Have you ever had a feeling its not about just plain text anymore? How easier would that be to read a book with a little bit of visual effects on it or engaging content such as what you may find on an iPad?

Have you handed your Uni assessments with just a text in it? Have you created many Facebook posts without any picture or video attached?

Engaging users in a visual medium without pictures or videos I believe is an ineffective use of the medium.

Today I was introduce to…

Getting Into Pinterest

Not just for wedding obsessives, Pinterest is another social media platform that can be utilised as a gateway to drive traffic towards your website (or your client's). You would be mistaken for thinking that Pinterest is simply a place to collect pictures of weddings in barns, dream homes and mason jar craft projects.

It is actually a dynamic image repository where you can find inspiration for anything including your very next holiday to the Continue reading...

Engaging Users and Building Content on Instagram

After today's session I don't think I'll appreciate beautiful beach photos again after viewing so many. Except now all I want to do is go on a holiday. Spending the day searching for content for a client on Instagram using the site Webstagram has been extremely engaging.

Especially for me as I have travelled to the specific area in the past and reminisced through the photos I found.

I have never searched for so many different hashtags before on one topic, who knew so many different…

Social Media Tools Reflection

I have previously read articles on scheduling programs but never had experience with using one. Today I was introduced to Hootsuite and I doubt i'll ever look back. With the ability to schedule posts for a variety of online social media sites, this platform enables users to post content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Logging into Hootsuite with a Twitter account amalgamates the account with a Facebook account also, allowing me or another one of the social media interns to schedule posts…

HootSuite and Social Media Engagement Scheduling

For personal use twitter can be a spontaneous, entertaining online platform: rant, retweet, roll your eyes at celebrities, be silly and share with your friends and/or followers. But social media engagement is a serious business for any company with an online presence, and to start my internship at PB Web Development I learned how a social media management tool like HootSuite, social media tools for business, Continue reading...
