Sarah Watz, the new president of Open Source Matters joins me on the podcast this week to talk about herself and her new role as president of Open Source Matters.
She resides in Sweden and is CEO of a company called Pixpro who specialises in Joomla and Infusionsoft CRM.
Sarah talks about what her role will be as President and also shares some hints and tips for others that might want to volunteer in the Joomla Community.

Sarah is the co-owner of Pixpro, http://www.pixpro.net, providing a lot of digital marketing solutions for clients. She discovered Mambo when back in the day when looking for a solution for her clients. She was providing HTML based websites but needed more for her clients.
She does a lot of customisation work in Joomla as well as developing extensions for Joomla.
From there she engaged herself in the local Swedish community and has been the head of the association for over 4 years helping to project managed many JoomlaDays and Joomla User Groups.
Since then she's been nominated to the Open Source Matters board.
Joomla Certification Program
Sarah is also on the board for many web design and development training organisations where many people wanted to know what the final outcomes were.
It has been a long work in process but it has been growing progressively with the first certification being Joomla! Administration.

Internationalisation of Joomla
There are more non english speaking Joomla! users in the world compared to English speaking ones, and Sarah wishes to see more internationalisation of the Joomla! project. Not only via translations but also by other means.
Tips for people wanting to get into the Joomla! Community
Sarah also leaves us with a few tips in regards to reaching out to the great Joomla! community. If you want to join in with Joomla then here are some ideas of what you can do.
Start local and find a forum that is in your language. Ask questions and answer other questions and don't forget to say thank you when you get your questions answered. Answered questions with a confirmation help others that want to know if the answered solution wil work or not. Reach out to a local Joomla User Group. Find others that are connecting and join in on the fun. Come along as an attendee or even present to the community. Translations, if you know multiple languages, join in on the working group that works with global issues with Joomla. Don't be afraid and just go for it.
